Ren Mu was only fourteen years old when he began traveling far to seek teachers and learn. He never shied away from difficulties, often saying, "If one does not study, how can they stand tall in this world?" Regardless of the harshness of winter or summer, he persisted in his studies without fail. Sometimes he would tie his hair to the beam above him to keep himself awake at night, or use a small hole in the wall to borrow light for reading during the day. All these efforts were made just to absorb the wisdom of knowledge. His teacher marveled, "Your ambition is great, and your diligence surpasses most people; you will surely achieve remarkable things." Upon hearing this praise, Ren Mu worked even harder. Eventually, due to his extensive learning, he was recommended for public office and served the people with distinction.
